Outdoor furniture lasts as long as its care plan. For procurement and facilities teams managing many sites, a single shared calendar beats ad-hoc cleaning and prevents the "why did this fade?" conversations.
Spring — wake it up
Remove covers, wash frames with mild soap and water, inspect fixings, and re-torque any loose bolts. Treat teak with a light oil only if you want to keep the honey tone; leaving it to silver is also fine.
Summer — light touch
Wipe cushions after storms, brush off pollen weekly, and shade high-gloss surfaces where possible. Most issues are caught here, before they set.
Autumn — deep clean
Pressure-wash gently, treat any rust spots on steel (not aluminium), and launder all covers. Document anything worn for next year’s capex list.
Winter — protect or store
In harsh climates, stack and store cushions indoors; use breathable covers (never plastic) on frames. In mild climates, a cover and a quarterly check is enough. Either way, never trap moisture against the surface.
